Profile of Artist:
Dayabhai is a multi talented personality who is a master weaver, an entrepreneur and a mentor who is recognized nationally and internationally. Dayabhai learned the skill of weaving in his family who are traditional weavers.
He was the first contributor to the transition of weaving from traditional products to the modern products like shawls, stoles and sarees. Dayabhai also helped the local weavers of Kutch to convert their looms from throw shuttle to fly shuttle technology. As a result he was honoured by the distinguished Sant Kabir Award for his valuable contribution for the development of Handloom Sector.
Initially the weavers have been weaving in a structured format but Dayabhai has innovated by engineering the motif lay out in such a way that it suits for a saree.
